The StarLyte Alcohol Stove
Re: The StarLyte Alcohol Stove
Saw this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08TcdCDXYvc posted a few months back. Looks like a distant ancestor of the "Starlyte". Heavy at half a pound. Everything old is new again.
Re: The StarLyte Alcohol Stove

Man play with fire man get burnt
Re: The StarLyte Alcohol Stove
Whoa!!! nice design but the absorbing product looks like asbestos. Oops might be able to help identifying for sure if is is. I will be crumbly in appearance, having a more hard texture than fiberglass.
Nice design though.
Thanks for the video. Always have time for stove videos

Re: The StarLyte Alcohol Stove
I thought you might know if it was asbestos by the looks of it.
Hope you got plenty of firewood up there.
Stay inside and keep warm. Pretend you're a bear and hibernate

Happy Holidays Dan!
My family must actually listen to part of what I say, because I got a brand new Starlyte with lid for Christmas. (My old one finally gave up the ghost after 2 thru hikes and some back yard experimentation/destruction.) My mother was apparently amazed that you shipped only a few hours after she placed the order!!!
I had a quick question though. First time I have had one of the lids. Can I use it as a snuffer?

Re: The StarLyte Alcohol Stove
Yes, you can, just slap the burner with it and the flame will go out. don't let it sit on the burner while it's still hot. You can then flip the burner over to slow down evaporization. You can flip it over to snuff it out also.cruiser wrote:Happy Holidays Dan!

Why doesn't "The Caldera Cone System" use the "standard" StarLyte w/lid? Why do they have the "simmer" StarLyte w/lid instead?

Trail Designs offers the Modified Burner as an option, not the "simmer" size.ConnieD wrote:re: http://sticksblog.com/2013/08/02/the-st ... the-12-10/

It's more fuel efficient than the original. Lots of people use the original, the ones in more of a hurry to get the feed bag on...
