Re: our modest first attempts
That's how I started out
It's a never ending hobby. the more you make, the better you become. It's a great Father/Son past time. Using them on the trails is even more fun.

What kind of stoves do you like best? Wood burning or alcohol?
any test numbers on the ones you've made?
what is the blue one?

Re: our modest first attempts
We are just making the alcohol for now.
BUT .....as a cajun, we cook on open fire quite often and I have ordered two commercially made rocket stoves to try out.
The blue stove is another budlite can that we made by cold rolling the can in a die made from an additional can.
We have tried them all and all of them plume out within 55 seconds.
We made the taller stove to hold more fuel and at first pass that helps us with a longer cook time.
Have not "run" the numbers yet but they all work and that is cool enough for now!!

Re: our modest first attempts
We have a stove tec coming in.
I would preferr to cook with split oak. What I do for the mini pots jambalaya is to split oak pallets up and use that. Or we go by the local cabinet shops and get scrap.
I also purchased from Rocketstove-dot-org a small rocket made out of what looks like a gallon institutional vegetable can.
That is the one I think we can run with and have the kids make for thier mini pot cook offs.
have some Venom bottle coming so we are going to give those a try as well.

I like also. I used a lot in my testing last year.I would prefer to cook with split oak. What I do for the mini pots jambalaya is to split oak pallets up and use that. Or we go by the local cabinet shops and get scrap.
What capacity is the mini cast iron pots, 2 quart? Are they made special for the competition that takes place?
I'd like to have one of those for my Woodgaz stove
