This past week I found a swivel bracket for the base of my central support pole for my tipi project.

Nice video. I just finished hulling a bucket of black walnuts. I can't say I've ever roasted any like these gents. Will have to give that a try. I was hoping to see them cook up some of those trout but I guess they preferred walnuts and Vienna sausage dogs....lol. Nice stove/teepee combo. The stove worked well for cooking. The best part was the elders getting the young boy experiencing the pleasure of the outdoors. Thanks for sharing, Zelph

Let me know how the walnuts taste roasted. Used to crack and de-nut them for my mom. She used them in cookies..very flavorful to say the least

I think they were teaching the young lad the principle of catch and release

Evidently, the elders were helping the young boy get through the trying times of having to be without a father that had left this world due to health problems. My son-in-law passed away this year at an early age of 55. He has one son, only child, that has need of a father figure in his life. My daughter has close friends that are helping to fill his needs. My grandson is not the true outdoor type so I'm limited to visiting with him and his mom. Both hate insects They are about 80 miles from me.

I used to do the same with the black walnuts for my moms apple pies. I remember using a vise to get them open and scraped out the bits into a small cup. About a table spoon or 2 is all that was needed to flavor up those pies. strong stuff.

Same here, vise was the mode of smashing. We did a minimum of a 5 gal bucket. to last a years worth of baking or maybe more. I remember my mom making "pound" cake with walnuts to add flavor. I let the squirrels have all my walnuts...I have 2 trees that I planted many years ago. The seedling were no more that 2 feet high. Now they are at least 30 feet high with tons of nuts every year. I have walnut trees sprout up all around the perimeter of my yard. Squirrels do a good job at planting them
