How to adjust your pack video

Postby sudden » Wed May 04, 2011 2:51 pm

I'm still on my scouting kick.

I finally read every page of connied's site. :DB:

ConnieD,
What I didn't find (and I think you should add, unless I missed it) is a "video" link on how to properly adjust your pack. I read the "arcteryx.com" link on how to fit a pack.

I found this video very helpful:
I'm going to download some videos and burn them to cd (the scoutmaster has a laptop but no wifi where they meet, I think it's legal to do this??). I think some of the kids will find it easier to see the steps instead of read them.

Let me know if you think this is worth sharing. Is it lacking anything important that these kids should know?

Are you sure you READ EVERYTHING?

There are off-site links hidden in the text, as well.

I am adding more, when I find "good stuff".

I think adding this video is a good idea. I think I will put it in the packing section.

I do, however, think it is a humungous pack! My goodness!

edit:
I have, on my website, the instruction to put the stuff you expect to carry inside a pack you are considering purchasing. It is possible the store will have equivalent "weight bags" if you weighed your gear at home.

Maybe stand on the bathroom scale with all your "stuff" in a laundry bag, subtracting your own weight.

Adjust your "realistic load" before you purchase a pack.

I have the actual packing strategies in the Packing section, plus illustrations in a link and in a video at my website.

I understand it is legal to download YouTube.

It is legal to use materials, even copyrighted materials, for educational purposes (not for sale).

I don't think it would be particularly nice to edit them, or, fail to give them credit because that is often a requirement stated in the copyright notice. However, no copyright keeps you from reproducing something for your own use, or, for "educational purposes".

Scouts need to bring lots of stuff to keep them occupied during the evening hours so the leaders can relax ;)

Hey!

Scouts needs to have a good experience, so they will like backpacking.

Not only that, scouts need to protect growing bones and not overstrain.

Once you damage your health, it's damaged.

Kids need both mom's and dad's advice.

Big packs for lightweight down bags and pillows and also a Teddy Bear or two  Their first experiences have to be "warm ones" and have plenty of food. ;)
