I have decided to "go for it" and purchase a sleeping quilt.
I like the Hammock Gear, Burrow 20 top quilt, with integrated attachment points.
I will use it with a Neo Air with the Cascade Designs Fast N Light mattress strap kit.

I am thinking I like the small NeoAir XTherm mattress for added warmth, rather than the small Women's NeoAir Xlite.
The Hammock Gear Argon fabric is, reportedly, soft, lightweight, and, strong. It is a downproof fabric, so no "leakers".
I think it will have all the snag resistance, puncture resistance and abrasion resistance I need.
I take care of my gear, clearing rocks, twigs and like that.
I always use both a bivy and a groundsheet. In this instance a BorahGear side-zip bivy made of Argon fabric and the Gossamer Gear polycryo ground sheet.
I was hoping for finding 900-fill down, because it became so available for awhile, but 850-fill down is so close to 900-fill down. I will see if I can notice the difference.
I no longer want to accept 550-fill down. It will not pack to the small volume I like, now, without overcompressing it. Besides, compression is really is too much. Down lasts, if not over-compressed. It also feels like carrying a football, when stuffed into a football-size compression sack.
This 16 oz. 850-down quilt should feel just right in the bottom of my 40-liter backpack, and, be cozy warm at the campsite. It has snaps for the footbox, so I can open it up for warmer weather in the mountains, but a reliable 20 degree sleep system is better for a safety margin in the mountains around here.
I will give a report.

Waiting for report
How is it that you are still on the ground floor....not hanging in the trees?

Re: Sleeping Quilt and Cascade Designs attachment system
I reserve the UL hammock for the shoreline trees with not enough beach to pitch the ShangriLa3.
How's that for an answer?
I admit I have been looking over streamside locations with uneven ground and trees, or, at least big strong shrubs likely for a hammock.
It has to be good weather. I an not going to spring for an underquilt to protect my southern exposure, and, I no longer care for carrying sleeping pads, except like the NeoAir.
The fact is, in warm weather, my southern exposure felt the slightest breezes right thru the hammock material.

I'm a side sleeper so hammocks don't work too well for me. I toss and turn in them too much
