The canvas hot tent and wood stove: A magnificent way to live well in the bush in winter. Traditional, and still the best way to handle deep cold in style and comfort.

“Hot Tenting” is the traditional way to get in out of the deep cold, dry out, relax and luxuriate in the warmth of a woodstove. As the weather drops to below -30, maybe even below -40, and the trees are cracking, and the lake ice is booming, and the wind is howling, you and your buddies are happily inside the big tent in your shirt sleeves enjoying food, beverages, and pleasant conversation in the glow of candle light and headlamps. Your clothing and sleeping gear dries without effort in the beautiful heat. It is an extremely satisfying way to travel and live in the bush in winter. Read more....

Interesting read. Looks nice and toasty inside the tent. I might be concerned with an ember igniting some of the evergreen scattered throughout the floor :o

Wow, lots of interesting stuff to read about fabrics used for his style tent.

One thing led to another and I wound up looking at a DIY wood burner

In one of the tents the flu came out the side through a rectangle hole that had a sewn sleeve for the galvanized sheet to set/slide into. I thought that was a good idea.
