Dan, we had 70 campers and quite a few more who came in for the day on Saturday. Have reservations for 80 this time around. Maxed out the limits for two group spots. Had to start a standby list.
Ron Moak and Brian Frankle will be back again this time to show off the packs that the two of them have been working on for the last 18 months. Jon from FlatCat Gear will be there also. Hikin' Jim will be bringing a selection of stoves too. Plenty of fire. A few more cottage folks than last year too. You would fit right in. CA is a huge state. I have a 8 or so hour drive to get there. We have people coming from as far away as Washington state and Maryland. Contact me direct if you want more detailed information.

I will be there again this year - hoping I do not freeze to near-death like I did last year.

I'll be there in mind and spirit. While sitting around the campfires watch for me dancing at the tops of the flames like a moth attracted to light

I'll have to have some campfires here at home on the same days your gathering takes place. Kinda like a Midwest tribute to the "Gathering Of The Geeks"

I'm amazed that all reservations have been filled.....that's a whole lotta geeks gathering in one place. I don't think I've heard of one larger. The road from the parking area to camp area will be a super highway :)

John, the weather might be in your favor this year. Will you be hanging or ground dwelling?

Flame on! There has been a few real nice stretches of good weather in January the last few years. We are do to have one that coincides with the GGG. We already have had snow and rain in years past. I do believe it is the largest gathering of lightweight and ultralight hikers that gather around gear anywhere. Unlike Trail Days and the ADZPCTKO which exist to promote the AT and the PCT themselves. The GGG centers around the light philosophy and getting other like minded individuals together. It's a geek fest like no other!
