NOAA local weather link.

Postby Bfinnigan » Sun Dec 12, 2010 2:09 pm

I use this NOAA link any time I head out into the wilderness. Our local TV news does a very poor job of mountain forecasting. And in the Cascades and Olympic Mountains the weather will be very different according to altitude, which side or region.

In the upper left corner you just type in your zip. Then you can scroll the map around to the area you will be going. The forecasts are very pinpoint, sometimes down to one square mile. And NOAA is far more accurate for my given area compared to the local evening news.

This one is for my main Mt Rainier trail access area.

Wow!!! that's quite the hand tool. Down to one mile is awesome. I used the site to navigate to Illinois and was well pleased with their service. Thanks a whole bunch Finnagan :D Great link!!

What program do I need to make a copy of what's on my screen the way you did and send it to photobucket?

It's the opposite here. The local news (has it's own doppler) is much better at forecasting. We lost our local noaa office a while back and now our local forecast comes from cleveland ohio. I live in NW Pa. They never get it right due to the impact of the lake.

I use Wisdom-Soft Screen Hunter 5.1. It's free and seems to work real well for getting screen shots.
