Smoked Fish

We did some trout fishing in the Smokies a couple weeks ago with not muck luck but did get schooled by a local old timer so I will be better prepared next time down there.

No choice there, it has to be artificial in the Smokies PLUS single hook only so it will be a challenge and the trout are very skittish and spook easily. One must be very stealth like

My favorite fly is the one that catches fish. They say to "match the hatch" or use the fly that most matches the predominant insect hatch of the area at that time of year. There is a lot to learn like why do you need three different lines on your reel.....definitely more to figure out than throwing a jitterbug or hula popper along the bank of a pond in the evening
