BudLyte Super Stove

Postby zelph » Fri Aug 21, 2009 11:36 am

This stove is made from an aluminum bottle. It's a 1 piece stove, no pot stand needed.

Will boil 2 cups/500ml of water using 1/2oz/15ml of denatured alcohol and boil for an additional 3 min. Starting water temperature was 70 degreesF.

Will boil 6 cups of water on one filling of 1.24 oz denatured alcohol and continue to burn for 1 min.

Max fuel capacity is 1.25 oz.

Stove weighs 1 oz.

When 1/2 ounce of fuel is used this stove has the ability to absorb and hold the fuel as a safety feature. If the stove is accidently tipped over the fuel will not spill out.(Just like the StarLyte)

Very efficient stove for backpacking, camping and hiking. Great for stove collectors also.

This stove is a compilation of features found in several different stoves that I have made over the years. The StarLyte, Fancee Feest, Cobalt and Cobalt Blue and also the Hole-In-One.

Interesting design. NO BOTTOM? All wick? Looks very efficient.

Very similar to the FanceeFeest. How long does it take for 1/2 oz of fuel to be fully absorbed? Nice stove !

It's completely filled with wick. It burns slow and that is what makes it so efficient. I'll guess that it takes about 1 or 2 seconds to absorb the 1/2 ounce.

It's very user friendly, one piece and weighs only 1 ounce.

I'll probably test some other fuels in it tomorrow and pass along that info. I want to try some iso 90 and lighter fluid, maybe some kero. I think most of you know that the "Ring of Fire" burns iso90 cleanly and also burns kero when the wick is barely exposed. Kool beans.
One of the things that's interesting is how well it works under a Heinekin pot. It's the ultimate lightweight backpacker alchy stove. It will boil 2 cups or six.

I'll be making some out of pepsi bottles as soon as I find them locally at a Walmart.
