I may need some encouragement to stay on task. I just ordered $60 worth of titanium foil and wire to try and build my collapsible, titanium...

...wait for it...

Rocket Stove!

It'll be rectangular in dimension with a fairly tall (8.5") draft. Please keep me on task as I hate to waste money. Plus I figured you guys would put some pressure on :| since I've gone and shot my mouth off! :o

here's all I've got so far:

Well, just a very cursory sketch of the overall idea and the flat parts layout so I'd know how much foil to order from titanium goat.
The wire I ordered from a jeweler on etsy.com.
Picture a piano hinge sort of joint at the corners with the vertical and horizontal sections being essentially the same dimensions, horizontal will slide into vertival.
intended finished flue size of 8.5 x 3.

Thanks for the sketch, helps visualize. Where will it's strength come from to support a pot?

How many thousandths is the material thickness?
with the vertical and horizontal sections being essentially the same dimensions, horizontal will slide into vertival.
I like that idea. Gives a double wall thickness in the firebox area. Good thinking! Makes for good equal storage dimensions....whoo! sounding good.

I'm going to rely on the 4 stakes of 1.2mm titanium wire in the upright flue to give the rigidity it needs to hold my 1.2-ltr pot. I may need to revisit that spec, we'll see. The foil from titaniumgoat.com is .005". Definitely foil gauge but I think it will take the heat nicely. May have to do some reinforcements here and there.

That laptop weighs about 5.5lbs. It felt pretty stable. I'm hopeful...

Thank you for the photos. Nice to open packages to see what stuff looks like. Nice to listen to it wobble around  It's a 60.00 dollar wobble. ;) I'm going to test a small titanium windscreen later today. Compare it to a stainless steel one of the same size.

Were hoping for the best on your project. I think it will withstand the heat and weight of 4 cups of water. It will be interesting to see what the pot support looks like.
