The Warp One stove
Re: The Warp One stove
One process is in the human digestive system. One process is heat.
Don't get the two different processes mixed together.

BTW, the violet color occurs with other metals as well: plain steel, brass, aluminum. My thick walled aluminum diffusser melted quickly.

That is interesting. At first I thought maybe you were getting some coloration from and element in the stainless but to see the same effect using different metals makes it unlikely.

Re: The Warp One stove
This discussion of fun.
I can see where language is significant here. I have heard that some people have 32 words for snow.
Meanwhile, we have only "hot, hotter, and hottest".
Hot, Hotter, Hottest.
applies to the color of steel.
applies to the color of light.
applies to the color of flame.

Q.
What is the normal flame temperature of Ethyl Alcohol?
A.
Using an alcohol lamp, you can put bends in pyrex glass, get steel wire to a bright orange, and just barely melt copper wire so the temperature I'm estimating about 1100 C. Of course, the temperature an object reaches in the flame depends on the the size of the object as well as the size of the flame.
Are we having fun, yet

Re: The Warp One stove
If we keep this up we will all have to calibrate our monitors. Your pink may be my violet.

Re: The Warp One stove
I am thinking the shape of the flame, perhaps the "flame spreader" effect of the screen may have a great deal to do with the "useful" heat produced by the flame.
If the stove design puts out a reliably optimized flame, that is a benefit if it stands up to the air movement you get even with a windscreen and heat deflector, looked at in Windscreen impact on stove performance.

I think this blue-violet color is "hotter" in Kelvin.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Spect ... _flame.png) comes from CH bond in deep blue part of spectrum

Probably just as hot in Rankin, Fahrenheit, and Centigrade(Celsius) s well. Only the numbers are different.ConnieD wrote: I think this blue-violet color is "hotter" in Kelvin.

The opinion of 10,000 men is of no value if none of them know anything about the subject.
