this Mystery Tool 54 is actually an old alien anal probe :mrgreen: from Area 54 hangar 19 :D

Now take a second look. Oops got it right but the part about square cans is kinda questionable. He's been around for a long time, his answer may be 100 percent correct. I know the P38 has been the mainstay for some time. In the mess kitchens maybe this stout one is the goto opener.

The can company that i work at making machine to make cans we had made a seamer put tops on them new gi can had a cutter almost like that we had to cut open it to see how the seam was it just took out the middle

Makes more sense now that I think of it. No need to get close into the corner of a square can. Square cans being more efficient at storage of goodies. More product per pallet.

I give you 100 percent correct ;)
