Re: One Pot Chicken & Veggies - with video

Over the years I have met at least 200 people off of a couple of the forums. :D Some of them are even good friends now :) It is funny how you meet someone from the boards and there isn't that painful "uh what do we talk about" moment you get in day to day life! I'd say every year I have me...

Re: One Pot Chicken & Veggies - with video

When we filmed it there was a massive raven in the tree above. It took Kirk forever to cut the sound out of it cawing :D

I swear it was saying "leave the food! leave the food!". The raven was as tall as my knees

One Pot Chicken & Veggies - with video

Re: Spam-Tastic Lo Mein

hoz...I may pick your brain more! I am part Filipino myself (on my dad's side....Norwegian/Filipino).I didn't grow up eating their food though and have come more interested in what is what. That is cool to know the part about "Canton". Neat! I am grateful though that our mega Asia marts ou...

Re: Fire ban situation

Zelph, out here they do ban smoking in some places! In Rainier for example you are supposedly allowed to only smoke in camp, not on the trail (though why anyone would want to smoke while hiking is beyond me!) I have seen fire bans as well that banned all smoking in outdoor areas. Still remember back...

Re: Fire ban situation

I do know that it depends on the ban - Most years here we have fire bans from Memorial Day to Labor day or so - but they are just fire bans. Only in super dry times do they ban ope fire stoves. I can only think of a couple times in the past 5 years that I have seen that level of ban.

Re: Spam-Tastic Lo Mein

hoz points out some great noodles. I'll admit that in the video I actually used Chuka Soba noodles due to being out of ramen ;) But knowing that most people don't know what c.s. is I just called it ramen. I like that they are not fried beforehand. Bean threads are great too! For a couple years I wor...

Re: Fire ban situation

Yes, in many areas when there is a fire ban it includes all open flames, hence that is why alcohol and Esbit stoves would be included. Canister stoves are under pressure and can be controlled/turned off.
I have seen it posted before on the fire bans at trailheads during very hot seasons.
