Re: New Alcohol Stove with shut-off valve

I can't believe I just read Missoula, MT and "NineMile" have a "Stage II fire warning" showing a fire danger guage sign "Extreme Danger" and allow LP or propane stoves with ON/OFF. Ain't them gov'ment bureau-rats just genius! Meanwhile, I have a severe "air quality" alert: stay in your home - do not...

Re: Ancient Water Hiking

For a long "water-hike" the open canoe will transport more food and gear. If you use waterproof bags or barrels, well secured, or, lash down a water-tight cover, the canoe is superior in every way. My family had an Old Town Trapper wood and canvas canoe, in Michigan, I learned to paddle well: there ...

Re: Freezer bag omelets

I asked this very question: why is that egg better? ...

Sea to Summit X-Pot

This is an inquiry about the Sea To Summit X-Pot?

It is silicone. It collapses flat. The capacity: 2.8 liters.

It has a polycarbonate lid.

The bottom is aluminum: they say can boil water or cook.

Does anyone have experience with the Sea to Summit X-Pot?

Re: Ursak

Kodiak bears in Alaska have bigger teeth, stronger jaws, more strength and bigger sharp claws than any grizzley bear. Alaska brown bears are bigger than grizzley bears. If Alaska had grizzley bears, I suppose Google could answer. The bears Ursak was tested on the website video were grizzley bears in...

Re: 35 miles of day hikes in Olympic National Park...

I'd like to know how you carry the bearcan in mesh on the outside of your backpack. Do you have a picture? I'd like to do that, like a big ShovIt pocket? I know those towns and roads, also all the way past the North Cascades. I also know from my property near Chief Mountain, MT start of the PNT Paci...

Re: 35 miles of day hikes in Olympic National Park...

"I've since modified my packs with the addition of a "mesh bearcan bag with tie-on straps" that straps into the helmet area of my packs on the outside,so I don't have to hand carry it." Do you have a photo of that arrangement? I have the PDF maps: my next question was how much road-walking is involv...
