Re: Hiking with boots versus running shoes

Hi all, for some reason I have just found this thread which is based on a thread I started on Bushwalk-Tasmania forum. Must of been all of the painting that I have had to do over the Christmas break. From CBC magazine My original posting on the talk by the Podiatrist was from memory but since I post...

Re: GiardiaMyth-Buster

Hi Zelph, Thanks for the link to the excellent Giardia article. Even though we have similar stories about Giardia here in OZ I have never treated water in the bush and I have never been infected but I am careful, I always source water upstream from a campsite or hut especially if it does not have a ...

Re: Dunns Flat 2

Hi Ridgerunner, What a great trip, Tony. Looks like Dave definitely is in the Ultralight mode. Do you guys use waders or just fish in you hiking pants and boots? Seems like waders would take up a lot of pack space. You sure are wetting my appetite to try some more of this stream flyfishing! :D I'm c...

Re: Dunns Flat 2

Hi Ridgerunner, Nice pictures. Tony! What a contrast in weather conditions. What trip in the bush would be complete without a snake or two? He looks flat and hungry! What kind of fishing pole do you use? Thanks for sharing. :D The snake was very docile, I think it was a copper head, but ...

Dunns Flat 2

Here are some pictures from a recent trip to Dunns Flat, we walked through the bush to about 4 kilometers below Dunns Flat and walked/fished our way up stream to Dunns Flat where we camped the night. As can be seen the bush was very thick in places and at some places going up stream we had to go go ...

Re: Micro-Jet flame Technology for canister stoves

Hi all at bplite,

Merry Christmas and a happy new year.

Interesting technology but I think you would be better with a portable generator and microwave oven.

Re: CANISTER "RING OF FIRE"

Hi Zelph, The nice thing about this one is the parts are avilable to DIY"rs. All that is needed is a drill press and hacksaw. If the thing works, I'll give a list of parts and where to get them. I hope it does. We're thinking of creating a new forum for active doit yourself members. A place to go to...

Re: CANISTER "RING OF FIRE"

Hi Zelph,

Great stuff, I will be interested in how finely the valve can control the gas flow and how much the valve weighs when you finish.

Re: new UL Canister Burner project

Hi Daren,

Great work, the flame looks nice with good air fuel mixing.

I used my little stove on a walk last weekend in worked perfectly, but was a little slow when boiling a large quantity of water, I will have to finish my larger burner head which looks a lot like your burner head above.
