Re: Holy Cow Stove

Yes, this looks like it should be better in terms of less thermal feedback. I think the rods were providing a lot of thermal feedback too. I always wondered about most stoves not getting enough oxygen in the center part of the flame. I guess that is why I like this idea so much. Generally flows in m...

Re: Holy Cow Stove

Wow! That is an amazing design. Holy Cow is right. I really like the holes which seem to do a lot of good mixing the air with alcohol - no wonder why it works so well. Sort of like an internal blow torch. Well done!

Re: Burning Wood Pellets

I'm a big fan of alcohol stoves. I got rid of all my coleman white gas types and went for the Origo Marine type stoves. I got the DN online at Menards. They deliver to local store nearest you. Side Note: I picked up my 2 five gallon containers of denatured alcohol 2 days ago. I'm ready for anything that comes along.

Hey Zelph, where did you get your DA?, what brand?, how much did you pay? I think it is time for me to pick up a couple myself.

Re: Spirit Varnish

That is very interesting. I wonder if one boiled it longer if it would make a harder finish. Like heating sugar - the higher the temperature you take it to the harder the final product. Might be an interesting experiment. I'll have keep my eyes peeled for tree sap.

Re: You know you're an ultraliter when . . .

Now that is something that all should be aware of and purchase. I have a large maglite that I keep in the garage clipped to the edge of a wooden shelf. I can't open it to change the batteries. It was not used for a long length of time, batteries must have oozed acid and corroded the entire innards :...
